Ian Freeman is the founding Managing Director of Freeman Harris Solicitors, which he established alongside Sam Harris with a clear ambition: to build a firm that fights for individuals and businesses on equal terms, without the bureaucracy or detachment that often plagues larger practices. He has spent his career acting for private clients, businesses and trade unions, having previously worked through nationwide solicitors before setting up his own firm.Ian is the firm’s senior disputes, property and IP solicitor and supervises all disputes and intellectual property matters. Ian works closely with Talha Fazlani on contractual matters, disputes and IP (trade mark, copyright and design rights work). His oversight ensures that all contractual matters, disputes and IP matters are handled with commercial awareness as well as clear legal support. He brings particular experience in commercial and IP disputes involving creative and commercial businesses.

Beyond disputes and IP, Ian has developed a strong practice in commercial property, advising a number of high-profile businesses on commercial leases, property acquisitions and related transactional matters. He advises clients on the full range of commercial instruments, from heads of terms through to completion, and has extensive experience navigating complex leasehold structures and negotiating lease terms on behalf of both landlords and tenants. Ian overlook’s Lana work on commercial property leases at the same time.

His recent highlights include:

  • Supervising a High Court intellectual property dispute for a London fashion designer involving copyright and unregistered design right infringement, reported by Law360.
  • Advising a high-profile business client on a complex commercial lease negotiation, including tenant protections, break clauses and service charge provisions for a London premises.
  • Overseeing the successful resolution of a bad faith trade mark registration claim, resulting in the trade mark being assigned to the client.
  • Acting in a significant commercial dispute alongside Talha Fazlani for one of Europe’s largest content houses.
    Advising multiple business clients on commercial property acquisitions and related contractual instruments.
  • Regularly advising one of the Uks prominent Motorbike Racing families on various personal and commercial legal issues.
